Bishop Eddie Long’s New Look Raises Concerns

By Victor Ochieng

new video in which Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is explaining his recently unveiled lean look is doing rounds on social media. The bishop reportedly released the video after some of his congregants raised concerns over his health after seeing him in a more slender physique.

“People are asking, ‘Bishop, what happened to all of you?’” he mentions in the video, which was posted on his public Facebook page. “Well, all of me has meelllllted away.”

Long told his congregants that he’s dispensed a “slave menu” in a bid to live past 100 years.

“I wasn’t going to get (to age 100) by stopping by Popeye’s. That was my weakness,” he says. “The biscuits with honey and chicken wings, spicy.”

He encouraged people to embrace what he referred to as “slave menu,” noting that by feeding on raw vegetables, he’s raised his energy levels and lowered his blood pressure. He says his new menu has seen him shed off some weight, adding that as a result, he no longer relies on drugs to control his blood pressure.

“I’m on the medicine that God gave you to feed your immune system to build you up,” he says in the clip. “You know what, if you really want to move through this world and have influence you gotta be spiritual and you have to walk by His commandments and you have to be healthy.”

Long also took the opportunity to talk about his wellness seminar.

The video starts by showing Long doing some exercise before he starts speaking at 25 seconds.

It’s understandable for those who knew the bishop before are concerned about his new physique. By just looking at him, it’s clear he’s gotten rid of a lot of weight.

Many of those who commented on the video were against his new look, with some even saying he might be having some health issues that he simply doesn’t want to share and is only using “vegetables” as an excuse.

“[I don’t believe] eating raw vegetables made him look like this,” said one online user. “He’s not being honest as to what’s really going on with his body.”

“Is it just me, but looking at him look like that make me wanna go get me some Popeyes, so that I won’t look sick like that,” said another.
