Gospel music artists Donnie McClurkin and Cece Winans will visit South Africa to perform a musical duo on May 31st, 2013 at the Durban Center’s Jesus Dome, Durban, South Africa. They will also appear in Johannesburg on the 2nd of June.

McClurkin, who was born in Copiague, New York and raised in Amityville, Long Island, New York, is a minister as well as an American gospel music singer  and has been awarded three Grammy awards, ten Stellar awards, two BET awards, two Soul Train awards, one Dove award and one NAACP Image award for his outstanding work.

Marvin Winan hired McClurkin in 1989 as an associate minister at his Perfecting Faith Church in Detroit, Michigan. In 1991, McClurkin was diagnosed with leukemia, but going against the doctor’s advice, that he underwent immediate treatment, he took his own advice and trusted God to save him.

“I tell people to believe that God will save you, and I had to turn around and practice the very thing that I preached,” McClurkin said.

Over the years, McClurkin has released many songs including, Stand, Speak to My Heart, Love Will Never Be, Great Is Thy Mercy, We Fall Down, The Prayer, I Call You Faithful, That Great Day, Wait on the Lord and many others.

The other half of the duo, CeCe Winans, born in Detroit, Michigan, to Delores and David Winans, is another great gospel singer and songwriter and has also won many Grammy and Stella awards.

Winans solo albums include: Alone in His Presence, Everlasting Love, His Gift, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, Throne Room, Thy Kingdom Come, Songs of Emotional Healing and many more.

South African, Zanele Mbokazi, President of World Gospel Powerhouse, who are organizing the musical event, said that they have been hosting several celebrities since 2010 including Shirley Ceaser, American Gospel music singer, songwriter and recording artist, whose career has spanned over six decades and Juanita Bynum, Christian evangelist and self-proclaimed prophetess but now they were bringing in “the giants.”

Mbokazi went on to say that this should be a spectacular musical event!
