Not too long after Duck Dynasty’s star Phil Robertson’s ban was lifted from A&E about his anti-gay comments, a video from 2009 has surfaced. In this video, Robertson suggests that guys marry girls as young as 15 and 16 years old.
In his video, you can hear Robertson speaking to a group of people in the state of Georgia about some advice he gave to a young man who was dating someone around 15-years-old.
“Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meats that she cooks. Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now, that’s a woman.”
He went on to say:
“They got to where they getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting till they get to be about 20 years old before they marry them. Look, you wait till they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course.”
Don’t forget Robertson voiced his opinion about gays in an article with GQ magazine a couple of weeks ago that drew national attention. Without a doubt, Robertson isn’t afraid to voice his opinion about any subject, whether you agree or disagree.
As you can imagine, Robertson will have to explain his comments again to the public. Since this video has surfaced, no comment has come forth from A&E. It’s quite apparent that Robertson believes in freedom of speech, (whether it’s on television or behind a pulpit).
