Oprah Winfrey Says Only God Can Convince Her To Run For President In 2020

Talks about a possible Oprah Winfrey shot at the presidency grew louder after the billionaire gave a powerful speech during the Golden Globes Awards this year. Several people have said she can make a serious contender for the most powerful office in the world.

However, Winfrey has made it clear that it’s only God who can convince her to run for president.

Winfrey’s speech at the awards was indeed powerful. She got a standing ovation and thunderous applause that quickly saw people floating her as a possible contender for the presidency in the 2020 race. Not left out among those calling for her to try her luck in the race is her longtime partner Steadman Graham, who even went as far as saying Winfrey would “absolutely do it.”

However, amid all the chatter calls for her to run, including people offering her campaign funding, she said she’s gone to God in prayer to seek direction.

“I pay attention, and when you have that many people saying something, I thought gee, I never in my life, ever, ever, thought I would be in politics. I’ve always said no no no no no,” she told People. “Am I at least supposed to look at that question?”

It appears like money isn’t going to be a problem if she makes up her mind to run for the presidency.

“I had enough people, billionaires calling me, saying I can get you a billion dollars, I can run your campaign,” she said. “And I went into prayer. God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.”

Winfrey says the direction from God has to be so clear that she can’t miss it.

However, those who feel she should run are still continuing with the clamor and are hoping she changes her mind and goes for it.

Winfrey even revealed that her best friend, CBS News anchor for This Morning Gayle King, has been asking her to go for the top seat.

“Gayle – who knows me as well as I know myself practically – has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?'”

Despite telling her best friend that she’s not keen on running, King appears not to be ready to drop the idea and is still pressuring her to give it a try.

A February poll showed that Winfrey would beat Donald Trump in a one-on-one contest for the presidency. Maybe such polls would work to convince her to go for it.
