According to Pope Francis, it doesn’t matter whether you are a heteros*xual or a homos*xual, a pro-lifer or pro-choicer, conservative or liberal or even a communist, because they all worship the same divine God and he loves them all.
This surprising statement from the Pope came during discussions at the Third Vatican Council, which has been going on for the last 6 months. The council was convened so that the church hierarchy could decide what to do about some old Catholic Church doctrines; whether to throw them out completely or change the rules in some way.
This most recent coming together of Cardinals and Bishops of the Catholic Church, which has been completed this week, is the first since the Second Vatican Council in 1962.
The Pope went on to say that today’s Catholic Church is very different from the church of the past and it has now been made into a “modern and reasonable religion” that accepts all kinds of people.
The 266th Bishop of Rome and head of millions of Catholics continued that even atheists can achieve salvation by doing good works or deeds. He added that the old belief in Hell where people suffer for eternity was a thing of the past and had been thrown out because it was not fitting with God’s everlasting love.
The 77-year-old Pope continued to say that “God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God.”
The Buenos Aires born sovereign of the Vatican City also believes that those who oppose immigrants or are racists are demons and racism is the ultimate evil in the world today.
Pope Francis continued that those who pursue these “evil deeds” such as racism and denying a home to those who are seeking refuge, risk being excommunicated from the Catholic Church.
After the Pope’s announcement, several Catholic cardinals have left the church. One of those is Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria.
The outraged Cardinal said that he believes that Pope Francis should no longer be head of the church because he has become a heretic. He added that the Pope should be excommunicated himself because he was no longer a Catholic.
