Apparently, Bishop TD Jakes has started a battle that he may not want to finish. Right after Jakes called “Preachers of LA” junk TV, a pastor on the show has come out to speak against Bishop Jakes and what he had to say.
Pastor Deitrick Haddon says that he was shocked by Jakes’ strong remarks. He speaks with respect toward Jakes, but doesn’t understand where he’s coming from.
PRAISE 102.5 spoke with Haddon, who says that Jakes’ remarks took him aback. He also seems to believe that Jakes should be ahead of the curve when it comes to using unconventional methods to promote the gospel.
“I have the absolute utmost respect for Bishop TD Jakes and what he represents. I considered him one of our generals in this generation,” he said.
“I was a bit taken back and shocked when I saw his view on the show, being that he’s a forefather in unorthodox, unconventional methods of sharing the Gospel, whether it be through MegaFest or partnering with comedians or Oprah.”
Speaking to his congregation at The Potter’s House, Bishop Jakes stated that the show had no place on TV:
“Now, I know you been watching that junk on TV. I want to tell you right now, not one dime of what you’re sowing right now will buy my suit. I want you to know my car is paid for. I want you to know I got my house on my own. I want you to know I’m not bling-blinging. I am not shake and bake. I had money when I came to Dallas and I plan to have some when I leave,” Jakes said.
Haddon had more things to answer for as well. The celebrity blogger Funky Dineva released nude images of the pastor that had made their way to the public. It seems that the gospel might not be the only thing he’s spreading to the world.
