Priscilla Shirer And Thousands Come Together To Donate Bibles For Youth

By Ryan Velez

Priscilla Shirer and her Awaken Gathering have long been working to bring women together from around the Dallas and Fort Worth area to worship, take part in fellowship, and learn more about the Word of God. A recent article from Black Christian News shares how Shirer and her ministry are using their numbers and hard work to back another cause: helping others.

Last week, the women of Awaken Gathering came together to donate bibles for Champions of Hope, a  Christ-centered mentoring organization that helps individuals in the South Dallas community with Gospel-centered relationships and discipleship in an attempt to develop godly character.  This initiative will provide the program’s young readers with Jesus Storybook Bibles, NIV and ESV Bibles. The gathering of over 4,500 conference attendees was behind this cause in full force, and Shirer proudly shared the details on social media. In an Instagram post, she wrote:

“See all those Bibles? Those are just a small portion of the THOUSANDS that the women of @awakendfw collected for #ChampionsofHope – an organization in Dallas that mentors young people. So grateful for everyone’s generosity! No better gift than God’s Word!! And warms my heart to see my #Jude helping to box them up. #family #servingothers #ministry #awakendfw We are cheering for Champions of Hope! Celebrating your work in the community!”

In addition to her philanthropy, Shirer is a woman of many talents. She has been a New York Times best-selling Christian author with titles including He Speaks to Me: Preparing to Hear from God, and Discerning the Voice of God: How to Recognize When God Speaks. She also appeared in the film War Room. However, her primary goal has always been teaching. In addition to her teaching the Bible to Christian audiences, she has also previously been a conference speaker for numerous major corporations and organizations worldwide, especially those furthering the causes of women around the world. Her religious dedication is also more than just a calling—it is a family tradition. Shirer is the daughter of Dallas mega-church pastor Dr. Tony Evans, and her brother is well-known Christian entertainer Anthony Evans.
