We are living in the last days. It’s evident in the things we see. The things we read in the book of 2 Timothy 3:1-5 are right here with us. “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
The Gospel of Matthew 24:6-8 sheds more light on the events of the end times. ” You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”
By reading the above scriptures, it’s clear we’re living in the last days.
What kind of a life, therefore, should a Christian live during these last days?
In an article posted on Desiring God, John Piper talks about the spiritual life of George Ladd, author of “A Theology of the New Testament.” According to Piper, Ladd was like the many evangelicals of his time and, like all humans had his flaws. But he held fundamental beliefs in the Bible that would be used to categorize him as a neo-evangelical. This was because his view of the Bible drifted away from fundamentalism.
Some of the most important things Ladd believed in, and are important for every Christian in these last days, included inerrancy of the Bible, ransom significance of the death of Christ, the importance of hearing the gospel for salvation, and being born again if one is to escape the wrath of God.
That wasn’t all, Ladd also believed that every true Christian must maintain good works as a demonstration of their faith in Christ, the perfect example. He also believed that Christians must actively participate in the sharing of the gospel to all the corners of the Earth so that more people can be saved.
Every Christian must live a Christlike life in order to enter the Kingdom of God. The time is near and the gospel needs to reach all corners. Whatever it is you can do as a Christian at this point to ensure the gospel reaches more people, please do it.
