3 Ways to Show God You’re Fully Committed to Him

by Brian Skyz

Christians’ commitment to God is often as a result of their faith in Him. If you want to show your commitment to God, it all starts with having a firm belief in His wonderful promises and following the plan the Lord has prescribed for your life so that you can live to enjoy the promises. These things you can do as a Christian in your walk with God are plainly stipulated in the bible. The three main ways a Christian can show their full commitment to God are:

  • Following God’s commandments

The fundamental proof of loyalty to God is strict adherence to his commandments. One cannot claim to love God and yet overlook his Commandments. According to the book of James, 1:25, ‘But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.’ It is very clear that a committed believer should have perfect knowledge of the law and succinctly follow it. His or her main agenda should be a preoccupation with God’s glory.

  • Showing unconditional love to all creation.

Jesus, the son of God, came to preach the gospel of love and grace. According to 1John 3:11, “For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.” It is clear that as a committed Christian you should be emitting love to everybody who comes into your circle. God loves us with an unfailing, unconditional love. Loving is His nature. Since people are made in image and likeness of God, they should equally emit that agape love to all creation.

  • Baptism and penance

These are outward signs of the inward transformations in the life of a believer. By accepting to be baptized, a believer shows that he has died to sin and risen as a new creation that lives in harmony with God’s laws. Participating in the sacrament of penance by taking the body and drinking of His blood is also a show that you are in atonement with God’s plan for salvation of mankind.
