Pastor Rev. Dr. Darick Favors is no more. The news of his death came out after his lifeless body was found on Wednesday afternoon in a motel, police reports. The 42-year-old pastor was found dead around noon in the 7600 block of South Central Expressway, very close to the Illinois Avenue.
Favors was pastor of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church at 623 E. Woodin Blvd.
The cause of the pastor’s death isn’t known and is currently being investigated by experts as an unexplained death. Preliminary reports indicated no homicidal violence and now the report being awaited is that of the Dallas County medical examiner’s office. According to investigators in the case, all they’re currently waiting for is toxicology test reports, but that could take a couple of weeks.
It’s definitely a difficult time for his wife Michelle Favors. She took to Facebook to express how much of a difficult time this is for her, saying, “God Bless Everyone! This is a very difficult time for my family. I’m asking with the Love of God to please not interfere at this time. Things are being done without my consent and I just ask that you [please] show my family mercy.”
She continued, “Leave your conversations holy and about the wonderful works my husband did while he lived,” she wrote. “Talk about how he impacted your life, that means more to us at this time.”
Many people who commented on the death of Pastor Favors condoled with the family.
“My sincere Condolences to his wife, families and church family, the community in general. May Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ grant you all strength and comfort hearts during this Difficult time of Bereavement in Jesus mighty name. Amen!” wrote a user on The Old Black Church.
But then there are those that didn’t take the wife’s message kindly, with one saying she’s basically trying to cover up her husband’s acts.
“There’s quite a bit that comes to mind his wife say she wants us to pray, focus on the good things her husband did. Now Mam, I’m sorry. I know you’re hurting and probably hurting cause the city got a inside look at your business. Business, that my gut says been a secret some saints was keeping quiet.”
When asked to comment on what may have killed the pastor, a staff member there said “drugs” may have been involved, but pointed out that they “do not know how many types of drugs were there.”
