The number of young people in the church is dropping just a little bit every year. Some people think that the reason kids aren’t going to church is because the church has lost its ability to connect with young people. So, pastors are coming up with ever more inventive ways to convince young people to join their ranks, including giving things away, singing popular songs or even doing dances that you might normally find in a night club rather than a house of God.
This pastor seems to feel that using a popular dance called “The Nae Nae” is a way to get his congregation to get excited about his sermon. He even uses the phrases “Nae Nae the hell out,” which might sound like blasphemy at first. But when you think about it, he’s actually saying that you can use the Nae Nae to get the hell out of your spirit.
Some people might think of this as good clean fun. The kids love it and so do many members of the congregation. But is it clean fun or making a mockery of God? That’s the part that’s ambiguous. Watch the video and give us your thoughts. The church isn’t exactly full, so maybe the poor guy is a little desperate. It’s not as if the Nae Nae has ever hurt anybody, so maybe he’s just being creative.
