New findings have re-opened the debate between creationism and evolutionary theory. The findings show that the connection between humans and apes can not be shown as clearly as was once believed. An article written by three scientists in Spain and published in the journal of Molecular Biology and Evolution, says that the data they studied was not consistent with much of evolutionary theory.
The team reviewed thousands of orthologous genes from humans and chimps, and determined that there are still many questions left to be answered.
The article was called, “Recombination Rates and Genomic Shuffling in Human and Chimpanzee—A New Twist in the Chromosomal Speciation Theory.”
The major catch of the findings is that scientists have long believed that the differences between apes and humans was captured in something called “genetic recombination,” a process that creates the variations necessary to link the two species. But the article says that the theory and process are not as sound and reliable as was once thought.
The scientists were able to advance previous research by using new technology which allows for higher resolution genome maps. If the results are confirmed, they will contradict much of what has been previously thought to be true in this field.
“The analysis of the most recent human and chimpanzee recombination maps inferred from genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphism data,” the scientists said, “revealed that the standardized recombination rate was significantly lower in rearranged than in collinear chromosomes.”
What this means is that the old theories are now subject to question.
“Evolutionists are having a lot of problems dealing with current studies in DNA research,” the authors stated. “Their predictions based on their naturalistic presuppositions are consistently being overturned by scientific discovery. Because they cannot accept the idea of a Creator, they simply change their theory to adapt. The only thing that appears to be evolving is ‘evolution,’ and it’s becoming more and more absurd.”
