Creflo Dollar flies his private jet to Kenya for an expensive event for the wealthy

By Nigel Boys

At the invitation of Mark Kariuki, Presiding Bishop and General Overseer of Deliverance Church, Nairobi, Kenya, 52-year-old Creflo Augustus Dollar, founder of the non-denominational World Changers Church International (WCCI) visited the country again.

The televangelist, pastor and author of “Winning in Troubled Times,” “The Holy Spirit, Your Financial Advisor,” and “Live Without Fear,” arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on his private, customized jet, which he bought in Nairobi.

As the “man of God” touched down at JKIA and debarked from the plane, he was met by Kariuki along with senior pastors and taken straight to the office of Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero where he was entertained.

The founder of WCCI, which has over 30,000 members at its home base in College Park, Georgia and over 6,000 worshippers each week at its venue in New York, was there amongst other things to talk about Love, sex and relationships.

According to Bishop Kariuki’s Facebook page, Dollar’s engagements include: speaking at Kasarani Gymnasium at a cost of 1,000 Kenyan Shillings per head or about $11.25; hosting a dinner for about $135 per head at the Safari Park hotel; followed by a breakfast at the hotel for a cost per person around $56.

Although Creflo Dollar has a large following of people hanging onto every word he says, he has been criticized for his lavish lifestyle. He is reported to have a net worth of over $27 million and owns three mansions in Atlanta, New Jersey and Manhattan, estimated to be worth at least $2.5 million each. Apart from his private jet, he also owns several luxury cars including two Rolls Royce vehicles.

Most of Dollar’s money comes from his various ventures, including Arrow records, Creflo Dollar International covenant association and Creflo Dollar ministries, which are managed by himself and his wife, Taffi Dollar.

On arrival in Kenya last Thursday, Dollar said “I am happy to be in Kenya, amazed by the hospitality, I’m looking to minister the word of God and Prophecy for Kenya.”

However, the televangelist was charged with assaulting his own daughter in 2012 and only after he had completed an anger management program were the accusations against him dropped. He has also been accused of twisting the words of the Bible so that his sermons will appeal to those who are listening to them, in order to make more money.

What do you think? Is Creflo Dollar’s wealth a sign of his lack of credibility or does it not matter at all?
