During this year’s National Day of Prayer on May 1st, the 63rd event of its kind, many faithful Christians gathered to hear the guest speakers at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Although most were pleased that the event went well, Janice Hahn, the Democratic Representative of the House for California’s 44th district, did not like that Dr. James Dobson referred to the U.S. President as “the abοrtion president.”
Disgusted that Dobson would bring politics into an occasion that was supposed to bring Christians around the nation together, Hahn walked out of the event, which was broadcasted live, shortly after his speech.
According to the California politician, Dobson had violated the religious event by trying to put down all that the government was trying to achieve when he brought up the subject of abοrtions. However, soon after the event, Dobson explained the reasons for his reference of Pres. Obama in an interview with host Megyn Kelly of “The Kelly File” on Fox News.
Dobson told Kelly that President Obama has never denied that he is in support of taking the innocent lives of unborn children. He added that, in fact, President Obama had made it one of his primary platforms for his campaign, along with pushing for gay rights and same-gender marriages, and that is why he had called him the abοrtion president.
The 78-year-old, who founded the non-profit organization named Focus on the Family and recently won an injunction against a mandate in the Affordable Care Act, went on to say that Obama is determined to force Christians and those who support the sanctity of human life, to put up with abοrtions.
As for Hahn walking out on the National Day of Prayer, Dobson said that people are paying too much attention to the one person that walked out of the event. He added “The people who were there were with me 100 percent, because they also believe in the sanctity of human life.”
Dobson went on to say that the theme for this year’s event was “One voice, united in prayer,” and that is exactly what the people did by honoring God and His son Jesus Christ at more than 43,000 prayer events that were held throughout the country on the same day as the event.
