I know that this topic will rub people the wrong way, however, I believe it warrants a discussion about why people within the Black church are so anxious and willing to meet as well as fellowship with white churches. It’s bizarre and even strange to want to fellowship with those who refuse to fight for justice, to see you as a human being, and understand the truth. (Please note: I’m not generalizing all white churches or white people)
On Sunday mornings, it’s been said you’ll find churches the most segregated. Blacks go to one church and whites go to another. Of course, you’ll have those in multicultural and multi-racial churches. That’s nice, but here’s the question for those Blacks going to multicultural and multi-racial churches, do you see anything representing Africa? Is there a picture of a Black Jesus or a white Jesus? Do people dismiss Black issues or are they glazing over it?
Black churches are uniquely designed to discuss issues relevant to the Black community. Leaders within the Black church have a responsibility to not only teach the Word of God, they have an obligation to ensure that people are equipped not only spiritually, but economically, globally, and intellectually. Sadly, shamefully, and sinfully, there are demonic forces that seek to destroy the plight of the Black community. Let me go a step further – many of those within the ‘white evangelical Christianity’ sect seek to passively promote what they know best - ‘white supremacy.’ Their concept of Jesus, who He was/is, and His ministry is far-fetched. They operate under the guise that anything non-Black is inferior.
Black churches must wake up and spiritually discern that there is warfare. That’s right; warfare that seeks to degrade, demean, and demolish the progress made by people of color. Any type of integration that seeks to blind people to the truth is false.
Black churches and preachers must be true to the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through proper teaching and exegeting of the Word of God, lives will be changed and transformed.
Here’s my advice – STOP TRYING TO INTEGRATE. PREACH THE WORD. EMPOWER PEOPLE. STOP WORRYING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY SAY OR THINK.
