If You Have Never Felt the Holy Ghost, Are You Not a Christian?

by Brian Skyz

There is a very thin line between being inspired by the Holy Spirit and professing the Christian faith. Before one can publicly acknowledge that he or she is a Christian, they must first acknowledge sincerely that Jesus Christ is the Lord and savior of their lives. For one to declare that Jesus is their Lord, it means there is a spirit within them that is compelling them to believe so. An evil spirit cannot lead a person to fully embrace the Christian faith, therefore if you are a true Christian, it means at one point in your life you have felt the holy spirit in your life.

Being a Christian means you have read the bible and accepted its precepts. A true Christian cannot read the bible and claim to have never felt the Holy Ghost. The book of Hebrews 4:12 says that ‘’ for the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any double-edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’’ No one hardy ever reads the bible and goes without being challenged.

Prayer is as important as breathing to a Christian. God is a spirit and can only be worshipped in truth and spirit. How then can one purport to be a Christian if the Holy Ghost, which is what helps us get intimate with God through Prayer, has never influenced him? Paul teaches Christians in the book of Romans 8:26 that ‘’likewise, the spirit also helps us from our sins; for we do not know what we should pray for but the spirit itself makes intercessions for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.’’
