Being a Christian has become somewhat unpopular over the last few years. Some people think that Christians are bigots or hateful people. Others think that we are ignorant. Some believe that there is no place for religious freedom and even the mention of God should lead to your being fired from your job or losing your friends.
This creates the kind of fear that Joyce Meyers is talking about. Read more of what she has to say:
Are you afraid to let people know that you’re a Christian? Does the prospect of rejection or persecution intimidate you? We can all overcome this fear and be strong in our faith.
Well, maybe you have noticed that you have an enemy. His name is Satan, Lucifer, the Devil, the Wicked One, the Evil One, the Liar, there’s all kinds of names that he has but the point is he wants to make sure that you don’t make any kind of progress. Has anybody ever noticed that when you start to make a little bit of progress, some kind of attack seems to come and then you think, “Well, I’m doing the right thing. Why am I getting a bad result?”
Persistence is what we have to have in doing what’s right and then eventually you press through those tough places. You not only win a victory, but you gain experience as you’re going through. I’m doing a series this weekend on the strategies of Satan, not that I particularly care to give Satan my attention in four sessions, but I think it’s dangerous to ignore him. It’s dangerous to pay too much attention to him, but it’s dangerous not to pay any.
Paul said we cannot be ignorant of the wiles and intentions of the Devil.
