After getting married to his first wife in 2006, 43-year-old Steven Rembert of Orlando, Florida, allegedly decided he would get married again 5 years later then again recently without ever obtaining a divorce from either of his first two wives.
Rembert might have gotten away with his crime, as he had all these years, hiding the fact that he was still married to Evondria Marshay Bryant-Rembert, when he married Frances Rembert five years later in 2011, but for the fact that he married someone Frances knew.
When his second wife Frances, who had allegedly split from Rembert after she returned home from the hospital after being sick in April last year, looked at the Facebook page of her friend, Takesha Stephens, she noticed she had just changed her name to “Mrs. Rembert.”
Feeling something was amiss, Frances informed the Orange County Sheriff’s Office this month about what she believed her husband had done and he was promptly investigated by deputies. To theirs and Frances’ surprise, they found out that he had not only been married illegally once, but twice, according to the Daily Mail.
What makes matters worse is that Rembert had married all three women in the same Orange County.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that a deputy said that Frances had left Rembert after returning home from the hospital because she said his attitude towards her had changed and he “wasn’t as friendly or caring toward her, so she moved out.”
According to his second wife, 27-year-old Stephens, the third wife of Rembert, was known to their family and had lived with them for years. She adds that she was treated “as though she was their daughter,” according to the police report.
Rembert, who has been a registered s*x offender since 2000 after being convicted by the U.S. Military on charges of sodomy and s*x with a child under 16-years-old, according to records, was arrested by deputies on Wednesday. They found that while he had married Evondria in March 2006, Frances in May 2011 and Takesha recently, there was no record of his ever having divorced either of the first two women.
