Pastor Quinten Barlow, 36, was found dead in his home last Wednesday. After receiving information about the unfortunate incident, law enforcement officers went to the pastor’s Whitehaven house to investigate the matter. His body was discovered after 8:00 a.m. at his home located on Oak Valley Drive, near Boeingshire Drive.
Barlow was a pastor at Faith Covenant Church in Memphis. His mother, Dr. Linda Chism, is a prominent member of the community. He’s the son of departed Reverend Quincy Barlow.
The Barlow family owns several different businesses around the area, including a funeral home and daycares.
Pastor Barlow was known as a very powerful preacher and an undeniably soulful singer. He grew up in the church and was baptized at a young age. According to accounts from family members, Barlow delivered his first sermon at the age of 11.
“Twenty-five years of preaching, so he was loved,” cousin Samantha Westbrook said.
Even though speculations are expected to be there in such an unexplained death, the family dismissed any possible foul play in their son’s death.
Westbrook also said the family was very much shocked by the untimely death of Pastor Barlow, pointing out that no one knew of any condition he was suffering from. The fact that he was also always conscious about his health and was in good shape made it the more surprising that he could die just like that.
“No health problems, he was exercising regularly, no medications,” Westbrook said. “We are grieving, we are hurting, but our faith and trust remains in the Lord, that’s all we know to do at a time like this. It hurts.”
Pastor Barlow leaves behind a young family. He was a father of three children, with one born just a few weeks before his death. His eldest son was set to celebrate his birthday on the very day his father’s lifeless body was discovered.
The cause of Pastor Barlow’s death still remains unknown. Authorities are working to establish what may have killed the fairly young pastor.
Many people have sent out their condolence messages to the family. His church members were equally shocked by the sudden death of their pastor, with many of them paying tribute to him for his powerful ways of sharing the gospel word.
Family and friends have been consoling Pastor Barlow’s immediate family members, even as they plan for the funeral service.
